My Story

My Story

I'm Dimitri — originally from a small town in southern Tuscany, based in Neukölln since 2011.

I spent my first decade in Berlin working between Italy and Germany as an art curator and photographer. Exhibitions, commissions, editorial work. I loved it. But from 2022, I settled here for good and started asking myself what came next. The answer was dogs. Which probably says something about me.

I grew up surrounded by animals — it was just how life was in a small Tuscany town. My first dog Birba has been with me for 18 years, know I have a 4-paws sister in Italy: Nessie. She's taking good care of my mum. Being further from her pushed me to find the next best thing: caring for other people's dogs.

Three years in, I've sat and walked dozens of them. I pay close attention — to how they move, what makes them relax, what tips them into chaos. That's something I carried from years of working with art and photography. You learn to really look.

I work from home. With me and my girlfriend your dog is never alone here.

Dogs have always been part of my life, but the more I work with them, the more curious I get about what's actually going on inside their heads.

I'm drawn to the quieter side of the human-dog relationship — the moments of real communication, the body language, the trust that builds slowly. That's also what I try to capture with my camera: not the perfect pose, but the actual moment.

My background in art and photography taught me to observe before acting. With dogs, that instinct turned out to be exactly right.

My goal is to become a certified dog trainer. I'm hoping to start a professional Ausbildung soon — the kind of structured, hands-on training that takes this from a passion to a proper profession.

In the meantime, every dog I care for is part of that journey. Your dog is not just a booking. Every one of them teaches me something new — and I like it that way.

education

I don't believe in just winging it with animals. I read, watch, and listen as much as I can — books on dog behavior, documentaries, conversations with trainers and vets. Over the past couple of years I've taken webinars on animal behavior, proxemics, and the role of touch in building trust with dogs.

Every sit, every walk adds something. I try to pay attention and learn from each dog I meet.
